About the Program

What is an Honorary Doctorate?

An Honorary Doctorate from Poinsette International Christian University is the highest recognition we bestow — a formal acknowledgment of extraordinary achievement, unwavering faith, and transformative impact on communities and the Kingdom of God.

Unlike traditional academic degrees, the Honorary Doctorate is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions through their life's work — whether in ministry, education, business, humanitarian service, or community leadership.

Recipients are formally recognized at our annual commencement ceremony, receiving full academic regalia, an official PICU diploma, and the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.

The Founding Ceremony

Our inaugural commencement ceremony brought together three Founding Fellows — representing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — before a gathering of 100 guests who came to witness and celebrate this historic Kingdom moment.

The Founding Fellows Robing Ceremony

Dressed in Honor

One year after the inaugural Honorary Doctorate Commencement, our Founding Fellows were formally robed in the distinctive PICU doctoral regalia — a sacred commemoration of their trailblazing status. The ceremony marked a milestone: the first class to receive the PICU Honorary Doctorate, now permanently recognized as Founding Fellows. The red robes carry special significance, representing the blood of Christ and the sacrificial service of each recipient.

How the Selection Process Works

Every nomination is reviewed with care, prayer, and discernment. Our process is designed to honor those who have genuinely served — not simply those who seek recognition.

01

Submit Nomination

Complete the online nomination form. You may nominate yourself or someone you know. All submissions are treated with full confidentiality.

02

Initial Review

The PICU administrative team performs a preliminary review to confirm the nominee meets the basic eligibility criteria and program alignment.

03

Committee Evaluation

Eligible nominations are forwarded to the PICU Honorary Doctorate Advisory Committee, who evaluate each candidate based on documented impact, character, and Kingdom contribution.

04

Chancellor's Approval

The Chancellor, Dr. Lesley Poinsette, reviews the Committee's recommendations and makes the final conferral decision. All decisions are final.

05

Conferral Ceremony

Approved candidates are formally conferred at the next available commencement ceremony and receive full academic regalia, an official PICU diploma, and permanent Fellow status.

Submission of a nomination does not guarantee conferral. All decisions are made at the sole discretion of the PICU Honorary Doctorate Advisory Committee and the Chancellor. The Honorary Doctorate is a ceremonial recognition and does not confer academic authority or replace earned qualifications.
